Who are Valor Training?Valor Training specialise in physical security training, aiming to set a higher bar than that offered to a standard SIA security operative. Along with accredited SIA training, we have developed courses to support the ongoing development of security officers. We are trying to break the stigma associated with security and promote careers within the sector.
-
What if I have an appointment during the course? You will need to attend a future training course instead. Full attendance is mandatory. There will be a cost implication if the course has already started before you inform us.
-
What happens if someone cheats during an Exam?We have to report this immediately to the SIA awarding body. There are various checks in place to uncover cheating that we cannot fully disclose. Anyone found or suspected of cheating is likely to be permanently banned from all SIA courses nationally and never allowed to get an SIA licence!
-
Can I get help during an Exam? No. The exams are run by independent invigilators. Trainers are not present. Talking is not allowed. Phones, notes and electronic devices not permitted.
-
What if I fail? You can retake twice any exam that you fail. You only retake the exam/s that you fail.
-
What do I need to bring to a course? For SIA courses – Pen, Pencil, Rubber, Notebook, Passport type photo and 3 forms of ID that match those in the current SIA list. (See list in our Download section. You need one item from Group A, two from Group B.)
-
What if I am late for a course? The SIA expects students to all arrive well before the start time and to not miss any of the training. We are not allowed to admit latecomers. If late you are likely to be told to attend the next course if there is space on it. There will be a cost implication for this.
-
What is the Pass Rate? This varies slightly from course to course. in 2025 and on the first attempt; there has been a 100% pass rate for the Door Supervisor Refresher Course and a 91.66% on the full SIA DS Course. Exams are multiple choice with 4 choices of answer each time. Only one is correct. Courses have practical tasks as well that have to be tested and passed. Most also have to be filmed as evidence as part of the assessment. If you fail one of the MCQs you will have an opportunity to resit the exam.
-
What do I need to do before attending the course? All SIA courses have Pre-Course Self Study. Depending on the course they vary from 3 to 8 hours in total. These are compulsory and you will do exams in class based on what you learnt at home. Make sure you do the correct one for your course! The SIA also require an English Assessment and Registration Form to be completed. All of this must be emailed to us before training begins. Send altogether in ONE email to admin@valortraining.co.uk Your name and course date must be the subject heading for the email.

Do I need a First Aid Qualification?Yes. It is an SIA requirement for any course for Door Supervisors and Security Officers, including refresher training, that you hold a nationally recognised First Aid qualification. We can provide this training. If you already have the qualification, for it to be accepted by the SIA, it must be nationally accredited and less than 2 years old.
-
When and How will I get my Results? We post all exams to the SIA exam board within 24 hours to speed up the process. About 2 weeks later, the exam board will complete checking all of the documents we send. The exam board then notify us and also upload the results to the SIA on the same day. We will let you know your result the same day via your preferred communication method. The SIA will put this qualification into your account. They take between 1 and 21 days to do this.

Do I need to complete the pre-course self-study material?Yes. It is not possible to pass the course unless this is all completed. Please send to us as soon as possible. You will then be informed if any changes are required. All requested documents must be returned to admin@valortraining.co.uk in ONE email with your name and course date as the subject heading.
